Glenelg homes sit close enough to the water that the specification matters. We build coastal systems to a coastal standard, with marine-grade mounting and hardware chosen to last in salt air, installed by our own accredited team.
Glenelg is one of the more varied roofscapes in Adelaide. Along the older streets there are character villas and bungalows with tile or corrugated iron, often with heritage considerations and roof planes broken up by chimneys and dormers. Closer to the foreshore and Jetty Road there are townhouses, units and modern apartments where usable roof area is tight and shading from neighbouring buildings has to be modelled rather than guessed. Behind them, through Glenelg North, Glenelg East and Glenelg South, there is a good deal of straightforward postwar and newer housing that takes a conventional system well.
Homes near the water need a different specification to homes inland, and it is the single most common thing done badly on the coast. Salt carried on the sea breeze attacks the parts of a solar system nobody looks at: the mounting rails, the roof feet, the fixings and the frames around the panels. A system built to a standard inland specification can look fine for three or four years and then start showing corrosion at every bracket. We specify marine-grade mounting hardware and anodised framing for coastal installs, and we set the system back from exposed edges where the roof allows it.
The other thing worth knowing about a bayside roof is orientation. A lot of Glenelg housing stock faces west toward the water, and west-facing panels generate later into the afternoon and early evening. That is the expensive end of the day on most tariffs, so a west-heavy array often produces better bill savings than the raw kilowatt-hour total suggests, particularly when paired with a battery. It is worth having modelled properly rather than assuming north is automatically the right answer.
We are based at Gawler Belt and have been installing across South Australia since 2004, with roughly 6,000 systems behind us. We are not a Glenelg local and will not pretend to be one. What we bring is our own CEC accredited crew rather than subcontractors, a coastal specification we actually follow, and a business that has been under the same ownership long enough to still be here when a warranty needs honouring.

From a character villa off Jetty Road to a townhouse near the marina or a family home in Glenelg North, we have a system sized and specified to suit it.
